Disappointingly, this year's Dacre Lecture has had to be cancelled at short notice as the speaker is indisposed. All tickets already purchased will be fully refunded.
Please also note that the venue for Erica's talk is now Andover Guildhall.
In its place, we welcome Erica Tinsley, chair of our society, who will be speaking about the extraordinary lives of the couple who are buried at Farnborough Abbey and who were at the centre of France’s glittering Second Empire.
We meet Jane Tarrant, local historian, in the car park of The Walnut Tree, SP11 9BN, where parking is available.
The lives of two local rural clergy reveal a lot both about them and the villages in which they ministered. Henry Burnaby Greene was vicar of Longparish from 1821-1884: James Murray Rawlins was curate of Vernham Dean for two years, 1850-2. Events during their tenure of these village chronicle the story of north west Hampshire village life during this period.
Members' Talks – More About Andover Grammar School by Greg Gregory and Memories of Andover in the 1930s by June Harris – followed by seasonal refreshments.
