Detectorist Finds, with Dave Walton

Dave is back by popular request. His talk  in 2017 was on the history of British coinage and was illustrated by the coin collection he had built up through metal detecting. This time he will be talking about  other artefacts of interest that he has found, ranging from the Iron Age to the present day, and will be bringing some along to display.

Water in Oxfordshire with Dr Jill Hind

Jill was a professional archaeologist (for the last 15 years of her career working for Oxford Archaeology, ending as a Senior Project Manager).  She has made a special study of the historical archaeology of post-medieval water supply in Oxfordshire for her DPhil thesis in 2014.

Co-author of Oxford Archaeology’s Thames through Time 4: The Archaeology of the Gravel Terraces of the Upper and Middle Thames: The Medieval and Post-Medieval Periods AD 1000-2000 published online this year.

She has had some involvement with Hampshire in Hey, Gill and Hind, Jill (2014) Solent-Thames Research Framework for the Historic Environment Resource Assessments and Research Agendas. The Solent Thames Archaeological Research Framework covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
