Erica writes,'Shoes are such an everyday part of life that the history books tend to overlook them and in this talk I try to make a small contribution to putting that right.  I have some modest qualification for talking on the subject because I come from a family of boot and shoemakers,  and the smell of leather still brings back happy memories of my childhood!'
